My alpha husband's little secretary took my supplementary black card on a spree across Beverly Hills, then called me a worthless human trophy wife, without a drop of wolf blood, in the middle of a Michelin-starred restaurant.
So I froze her card. She couldn't pay, humiliated herself in front of the whole room, and restaurant security held her for a day and a night.
When Logan heard, he only tapped the tip of my nose fondly.
"You're the Luna. Why compete with an omega and make the whole pack laugh at her?"
He didn't blame me. He acted as if nothing had happened, until the night of my birthday, when he took me to the most exclusive sky restaurant in Las Vegas.
He opened dozens of million-dollar bottles at once, ordered the finest wagyu for the whole room, and said the pack's entire leadership would be arriving soon to celebrate with me.
"I'm going to the restroom. I'll be right back to cut the cake with you."
I waited until closing time. He never came back, and neither did the pack's leadership.
Just as I took out my main card to pay, the manager told me coldly, "Ms. Joanna, Mr. Logan has frozen every one of your cards."

I pulled a debit card from my handbag and held it out.
"Use this one."
The manager didn't even touch the card reader. He took my debit card and slapped it down on the table.
The plastic bounced twice and slid off onto the floor.
"Ms. Joanna, Mr. Logan's instructions were clear. Tonight's bill is thirty-eight million dollars, and we accept only cash or a cashier's check from Silver Moon Group."
"You—!"
I bent to pick up the card, my nails digging into it.
"Where is Logan? He said he was going to the restroom!"
The manager folded his arms and lifted his chin.
"Mr. Logan left the restaurant two hours ago."
I took out my phone, found Logan's number and called.
An automated voice answered.
"The number you have dialed is switched off."
I called again. Still switched off.
I opened WhatsApp to send him a voice message, and a red exclamation mark popped up.
He had blocked me.
A dozen waiters drifted over from around the room and started pointing at me.
"Look, that's the human woman with no wolf blood."
"I heard she froze Miss Chloe's card the other day. Looks like karma caught up with her."
"Can't even come up with thirty-odd million, and she still thinks she gets to be the Alpha's wife."
Every word found its way into my ears. My cheeks burned and the blood rushed to my head.
Then the double doors of the private room were pushed open from outside.
Leather shoes clicked across the marble floor.
Logan walked in.
He had his arm around his little secretary, Chloe, who was wearing a couture gown.
Chloe leaned her head on Logan's shoulder, giggling, a diamond necklace glittering at her throat.
It was the necklace I'd had my eye on at an auction last month.
"Logan!"
I stood up. My chair screeched across the floor.
"What is this? Why did you freeze my cards? Why did you leave me here alone?"
Logan didn't answer. He lowered his head and tucked a loose strand of hair behind Chloe's ear.
Chloe sashayed over to the manager and snatched the long bill out of his hand.
She walked up to me and flung it in my face.
The edge of the paper scraped my cheek and left a red line, and the pages fluttered down all over the floor.
"Oh, sweetie, are you really this slow? You still haven't figured it out?"
Chloe covered her mouth and laughed, grinding the bill under her high heel.
"Two days ago you froze my card at that Michelin restaurant, and security held me for a whole day and night. I was humiliated."
"Logan felt so bad for me that he set this whole thing up, so you'd know what it feels like not to be able to pay in front of everyone!"
I turned to Logan, my chest heaving.
"Is that true? Logan, it's my birthday! You set me up on my birthday to make her feel better?"
Logan took out a solid gold lighter and flicked the wheel with his thumb. A flame leapt up and died.
"Joanna, Chloe just graduated. She's sensitive. What you did that day went too far."
"I'm your wife! She ran up my card and called me a worthless trophy wife. What did I do wrong by freezing her card?"
I shouted at him until my throat went dry.
Logan snapped the lighter shut, walked over to the sofa, sat down and crossed his legs.
"So what? She's a purebred wolf. You're an ordinary human who can't even shift."
"You spend my money and enjoy the title of Luna. You should learn to be gracious."
"Tonight I want you to understand exactly how helpless you are without my money. You can't even pay for one dinner."
My heart gave a painful lurch. My fingers were shaking.
"Logan, three years ago we married before the pack's altar. You cut your wrist and swore a blood oath that you would never betray me, that you would always protect me!"
